Butch Otter is the BEST thing to ever happen to the Idaho Cannabis industry

Alright I know this is counter intuitive. But if you really think about it, Butch Otter is honestly the best thing to ever have happened to the Idaho Cannabis industry. Think about it.

Yes, he veto’s every single vote regarding Cannabis, even CBD oil. It’s not that he doesn’t understand the medical value, Butch Otter was once even pro Cannabis citing quotes from him in 1978 “If a person of his own free will, wants to use marijuana, I question whether the government has any propriety in telling him he can’t.” He’s simply been bribed & bought by his contributions from the pharmaceutical industry, there’s no other explanation for it.

However. His “absolutely no” stance, I think in the long run is going to end up being the best thing that has ever happened to us.

If Butch Otter said “yes” Idaho would be a conservative utopia.

Butch Otter has 2 more years to get legislation passed regarding Cannabis. If he wants it to never “really” be legalized, he could open up the industry, but only allow pharmacies to dispense extremely limited amounts of Cannabis to an extremely limited amount of patients. He could legalize it with the most ultra conservative policies in the entire United States. The Idaho Senate & the next Governor could say “okay it’s legal” without anything ever happening past that.

But that’s not going to happen. Because Butch Otter has a 0 tolerance stance regarding Cannabis.

So what IS going to happen? Butch Otter is never going to get the chance to write the laws. Instead, bipartisian pro Cannabis groups like ourselves are writing the laws. The current petition to legalize was written by the Idaho Medical Marijuana Association, and it contains very “healthy” rules regarding Cannabis and the industry.

By consistently saying “no”, Butch Otter is allowing the individuals from the Cannabis industry to decide its own regulations.

And that is why Butch Otter is the best thing to have ever happened to the Cannabis industry. As terrible as his policies are regarding Cannabis, in the long run where 74% of Idahoans support medical legalization, Butch Otter is going to open the door for a more healthy Cannabis industry than what would have ever been possible if he had legalized the industry but with extremely conservative policies.

Businesses and entrepreneurs are eyeing Idaho as the next legalized industry. Money is starting to flow into our state. The petition is going to get more signatures this time around than ever before. And even if we don’t get it passed, Butch Otter is gone in 2018. It IS going to get legalized. And when it does, we the people, are going to write the legislation. Not some old drunk divorced alcoholic who has had received too much money from the pharmaceutical industry.
